PM Modi has just finished his Mann Ki Baat broadcast. Here are the highlights:

- Normal life is affected due to floods. Several organisations are helping the people Army, Air Force, NDRF, para-military. Floods damage crops and cause loss to farmers. Insurance companies are being made pro-active. The 24x7 helpline number 1078 has been helpful.
- GST's returns are evident. Successful roll-out of GST is a case study. It is also an example of cooperative federalism. GST has a positive impact on transport and logistics. Pollution has become lesser and materials are reaching the destinations sooner. In future, India's GST would be seen around the world as a role model. It is every govt's responsibility to help the poor. The dream on One Nation, One tax has been fulfilled. It is not merely a tax reform, but it is a way for social reform.
- Let's remember August 1, 1920's Non-cooperation movement. We are celebrating 75 years of Quit India Movement. Today, we do not have to die for the nation. We have to live for our nation and take it to new heights of progress. We remember Mahatma Gandhi for his leadership during 'Quit India' & remember leaders like Lok Nayak JP & Dr. Lohia who took part in it.
- Some people told me my earlier 15 August speeches were a bit long, this time I have thought to complete it in 40-50 minutes:
- We have another opportunity to celebrate 75 years of freedom in 2022.
- We can shape a new future for India in 2022. We have to make 2017 as year of resolve. Poverty, corruption, communalism, casteism quit India.
- Our festivals are also campaigns of social reforms. All our festivals are directly linked to the poor.
- Many conscious citizens have requested me to talk about eco-friendly Ganesh idols. Lokmanya Tilak ji started this tradition. This year is the 125th year of Ganesh Utsav celebrations and 125 crore Indians.
- I give my best wishes to all for upcoming festivals.
- Our daughters are reaching great heights. I got a chance to meet cricketers and sensed they felt low for not winning Women's World Cup. The way India supported the women's cricket team shows a shift. I am happy how India took pride in the team's accomplishment. If our team can't win some people don't even respect basic decencies
